News from the North Kingdom:
Judy B. Dales has written with the exciting news of the newly formed Kingdom Crafts Alliance, where she serves as their new President.
The organization represents approximately 40 artists and several historians already on their mailing list. The group has plans to create a brochure that will guide visitors to artists' studios in the 12 mile area surrounding Greensboro. Their other important initiative was an exhibit proposal that was accepted by the VT Crafts Council to be a part of the special Showcase Events planned for the State of Craft.
They are busy preparing for that exhibit, which will open with a reception on Friday, July 2, 5 - 8 pm. and continue 10- 5 daily until Sunday, July 11. There will be a wide range of art presented, including sculpture, painting, pottery, weaving, jewelry, glass, metal, wood and collage. In addition, there will be information about the people involved in crafts in earlier times, personal statements from artists explaining how they were influenced or mentored by artists who preceded them, and a timeline of important events and movements that shaped the face of craft in northern Vermont.
The Kingdom Craft Alliance's July Exhibit will be held at The Miller's Thumb, a historic building right in the center of Greensboro. It's well known in the area, and hard to miss! So, as Bennington Museum says, where I got this great photo, it's worth the trip, no matter how you get there!
