In more Vermont SDA Member News, Althea Bilodeau traveled this week to New York City for the unveiling of the Chris Benz Resort Collection.

Here she is with Chris (right) and Martha (left) at the design studio in NYC (Althea is in the middle)

Althea's felt fabrics were used by the designer to create a jacket and a coat. This is the second time this talented Vermont fiber artist has collaborated with Benz for one-of-a-kind fabrics used in his collections.

Below is the Reef Coat, hanging out with some other designs from the collection:

Six SDA Vermont members: Judy B. Dales, Marilyn Gillis, Karen Henderson, Alexandra Nickerson, Carlene Raper, and Dianne Shullenberger will be among several other artists featured at the "The Art of Quilt" as part of the exhibits shown at The Vermont Quilt Festival. The Art of Quiltshowcases the depth and breadth of work being created today right here in Vermont.

Their works will hang along with Vermont art quilt artisans who were part of the Shelburne Museum's 2007 exhibit titled "Contemporary Vermont Quilts". Gillis and Henderson are among some of the artists this year who will share their work as non-tradtional fiber art that explore textile techniques related to art quilt, but may diverge in materials and/or application.

The Vermont Quilt Festival is New England's largest quilt event, as well as the oldest; this year its 35th year!
