New Member News!

New SDA Member, Wylie Sofia Garcia, has shared some really exciting news for this fall!

She has received a St. Botolph Club Foundation Emerging Artist 2013 Fellowship. With this award she's begun a new body of work entitled Cloaking Device in which she explores theories of energy fields, protection devices, camouflage, holography, felting, and time travel.

In her series, The Dress That Makes The Woman, Garcia intended to embark upon a ritualized creative challenge: to wear and to work daily on a dress for one month at a time for an entire year. With this project came a year of love, loss, struggle and couture –the honest mess of one woman’s daily life. (Read more about the project on her blog at this link)

Congratulations, Wylie!
