After sending out an exploratory email, our new area SDA reps, Eve Jacobs-Carnahan and Roz Daniels have arranged a field trip to Brattleboro for members.

To enrich the experience of SDA-Vermont members, we are planning a visit to Brattleboro to see the work of Jackie Abrams and Deidre Scherer on Tuesday April 2, 2019. We hope to gain inspiration from their work and to learn more about fiber artists in Vermont. Jackie and Deidre collaborated to create a marvelous series of works that combine stitched portraits with woven basket forms.
Each of these accomplished artists has done beautiful, moving work on her own: Jackie's sensuously shaped woven baskets are made with a myriad of colorful materials; Deidre creates sensitive thread-stitched portraits of elderly people. Work from their collaboration was previously shown at the Mitchell-Giddings Gallery, and you can see some examples at this link.
On April 2 we will visit the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center for a private talk about the exhibit. Jackie and Deidre will both be there to describe their work and to answer questions. Then we will visit Jackie's studio to learn more about her work. We'll continue the conversation with the artists, and with each other, over lunch at a local restaurant.
Our SDA area reps (Eve and Roz) will confirm attendance for the trip in early March, and help arrange carpools to Brattleboro. There will be a small cost for the trip, in addition to lunch. You must be an SDA-Vermont member to attend.
